EVERETT, Wash. —
A problem with the electronic recording and transmission of data from a Boeing 777 freighter during the aircraft model's first flight Monday forced a change in plans.
The freighter landed at Paine Field in Everett Monday afternoon, the same airport from which it took off in the morning. Boeing spokeswoman Sandy Angers says the Federal Aviation Administration requires a test flight to land at the same airport where it took off when there is an instrument transmission problem. The freighter originally was scheduled to land at Boeing Field in south Seattle.
Angers says that other than the telemetry problem, the inaugural flight went well and that the airplane and its crew were never in any danger. The company needs to do further research to find out why the instrument data was not transmitted properly.
