Turkish carrier Borajet later this week is adding new service to Italy, offering Istanbul SAW – Trieste nonstop service. From 10SEP16, Embraer E190 and E195 will operate this route 3 times a week.

Intanto Eurowings apre base a Palma de Mallorca da maggio 2017 Lufthansa Group low-cost (LCC) subsidiary Eurowings Europe will open a base in Palma de Mallorca, Spain in May 2017, the airline’s third base in addition to Austria’s Vienna and Salzburg. Palma is the company’s first base outside its home market and one of the largest tourism markets in Europe. Further route details are not yet available; however, routes to Germany and other European cities are planned. “Customers today prefer clearly cheap, direct flights across Europe and beyond. Our first base in Spain is … the next important milestone,” Eurowings CEO Oliver Wagner said. Flight operations in Palma include two based Airbus A320s and at least 75 new crewmembers. The two aircraft will be operated by Eurowings Europe. The company received its air operator’s certificate (AOC) in Austria in June and launched its first flight from Vienna to Alicante June 23. Last weekend, Eurowings Europe welcomed its 100,000 passenger in Vienna. Since July, the two Vienna-based A320s operated 700 flights, producing a load factor of 80%. A third aircraft will be added by October, operating to 15 European destinations from the Austrian capital. A fourth A320 will be based in Salzburg from January 2017. Eurowings Europe will hire 600 crewmembers as its fleet expands to 19 A320s by the end of 2017. Lufthansa has established Eurowings as a pan-European LCC platform, which should grow quickly to 100 aircraft as competition from LCCs—such UK’s easyJet, Ireland’s Ryanair and Spain’s Vueling—increases to a 50% market share in Europe. Emirates apre Dubai-Fort Lauderdale Emirates starting December 2016 is adding new service on Dubai – Ft. Lauderdale route, becoming the first Middle Eastern carrier serving Ft. Lauderdale. From 15DEC16, Boeing 777-200LR will operate this route on daily basis. Reservation is now available in the GDS at time this post goes to press.
