Il personale di bordo di British Airways incrocerà le braccia per 7 giorni alla fine del mese, dopo la rottura delle trattative sui salari e sulle condizioni di lavoro. Lo ha annunciato il sindacato più rappresentativo, l'Unite Union, aggiungendo che la protesta si articolerà tra il 20 e il 30 marzo e che potrebbero esserci nuovi stop a metà aprile. "Gli scioperi - si legge in un comunicato - sono previsti per il 20, 21 e 22 marzo e anche per il 27, 28, 29 e 30". Non ci saranno proteste il giorno di Pasqua, ma dopo il 14 aprile sono previste nuove agitazioni se la trattativa non giungerà ad un accordo. Da parte della compagnia, è stato espresso "disappunto" per il fatto che gli scioperi si terranno a ridosso delle feste pasquali mettendo in difficoltà centinaia di migliaia di consumatori.

On March 12, Unite, the union that represents British Airways (BA) cabin crew, announced strike dates of 20,21, 22 and 27,28,29 and 30 March 2010.
The first strike period is now underway and we are planning to operate 60 per cent of flights.
If your flight has been cancelled please do not come to the airport.
We are currently reinstating a number of flights over the next few days due to the number of crew who are reporting to work.
The following flights will operate normally and changes to bookings on these flights are subject to the original fare rules:
* All flights to and from London City
* All longhaul flights to and from London Gatwick
* All flights operated by our subsidiary, franchise, alliance and codeshare partners

We are chartering a number of aircraft from a range of UK and European based airlines to assist with our shorthaul (UK and European) operations to and from London Heathrow.
The following airlines are being chartered for flights operating between 20 and 22 March 2010:
Air Finland
Arkefly
Astraeus
EuroAtlantic Airways
Jet2
Titan Airways
Transavia
Viking Airlines
These charter companies employ the pilots and cabin crew working on these aircraft, which will be operated on behalf of British Airways.
We have worked successfully with several of these airlines in the past. All of these airlines have to comply with the strict safety and operational standards laid down by Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and any requirements specified by British Airways.
Flights operated by chartered aircraft will use the existing BA flight numbers.
